"Vadouvan" is a ready-to-use blend of spices that are a French derivative of masalaknown as Vadavam.  It's an Indian curry blend with added aromatics such as shallots and garlic.  Indian curry recipes vary..., Vadouvan recipes vary also, but this contains pounded onions, garlic, cumin seeds and chilis.  The blend is then dried in the sun, crushed and mixed with olive oil.
